Willowbrook Senior Center

The Willowbrook Senior Center was established in 1979. The center serves the Willowbrook, Athens and Westmont unincorporated areas and other neighboring communities. It is a multipurpose facility designed to offer a wide range of services and social activities providing opportunities for daily learning, skills enhancement, community engagement, socialization, and healthy living for older adult residents.

Public Access Computers/Computer Labs Computers and printers available for the public to use on their won or in a class setting; tablets available at some centers too
Health Screenings A variety of screenings are held at various centers; varying dates and times
AARP Senior Workshops Variety of classes that target seniors in the community by providing classes such as driving and use of new technology; variety of dates and times
Arts & Crafts Group that focuses on arts and crafts projects; varied dates and times
Beading Class teaches all levels to paint with different mediums; varied dates and times
Painting Class for Adults Meditation techniques are taught to help manage stress; varied dates and times
Millinery Class that meets once a week to create fashionable hats
Drawing Class participants learn to draw; varied dates and times
Crochet/Knitting Crochet/Knitting is taught from new to advanced learners; varied dates and times
Sewing Class that teaches sewing to community members; varying dates and times
Quilting Class participants learn to quilt all levels welcomed; varied dates and times
Jewelry Jewelry class for all levels; varied dates and times
Senior Video Exercise Seniors exercise to a video at the center
Health Fitness A health and fitness assessment that provides recommended workout and instructions on how to use the exercise equipment at the center
Strength Training An exercise that focuses on strengthening exercise with or without the use of equipment; varied dates and times
Exercise Exercise class such aerobics; varied dates and times
Line Dancing All exercise is taught to fun music in which a partner is not needed; varied levels, dates and times
Chair Exercises All the execise is done while sitting and can include Yoga, stretch bands, etc.; varied dates and times

Food Pantry & Emergency Food Shelf-stable food is available to individuals and families in need
Congregate Meals Lunch meals on-site at centers for seniors

Title V Centers serve as training sites for subsidized part-time work for unemployed older adults (age 55 or older)

Dances Events held at centers that include entertainment such as music to dance to and/or food, games, etc. This is an opportunity for community members to socialize with each other
Jarvis Club Social club for seniors that provides opportunities and activities such dances, health, and wellness forums and a travel club at the center
Movie Day at the Center
Bingo/loteria Game for seniors to play; varying dates and times
Card/Board/Table Games Bid Whist, Canasta, Chess, Checkers, Puzzles amongst others for seniors
Field Trips Community field trips to educational or culturally enriching venues/sites
Movie Day Community members gather to watch a movie together; varying dates/times through the month

Emergency Preparedness Workshops Centers help prepare the community in the event of an emergency
Free Income Tax Preparation Community organizations provide free income tax preparation to income eligible individuals and families

L.A. Found Bracelet Distribution Site Centers are a distribution site for LA FOUND Project Lifesaver Bracelets to participants

Meeting Room Available Centers have meeting rooms available for organizations to use to provide a service to the community
Adult Protective Service Referrals Center staff are able to submit referrals for elder and dependent adult abuse and neglect on behalf of concerned community members
Utility Assistance Utility assistance provided to income eligible households for SoCal Gas and SCE utility bills; varying dates/times at centers
Information & Referral Provide information and refer community members to programs/services available
Form Assistance Staff help complete simple forms such as Utility CARE Discount, Jury Duty, etc.
