Building Community: Older Adults Unite at Resource Fairs

Hilda Solis Supervisor of Los Angeles County’s First District, alongside the Aging & Disabilities department, proudly orchestrated two Older Adults Resource Fairs this month.

The events took place at the East Los Angeles Service Center on Tuesday, April 9, and at the Potrero Heights Park Community and Senior Center in Montebello on April 18. These free community gatherings served as invaluable platforms, spotlighting crucial resources and services tailored for older adults.

Attendees had the opportunity to engage in workshops, explore informative displays, and partake in giveaways. These interactive experiences facilitated access to essential support networks and fostered meaningful connections within the community.

Visitors were encouraged to seek information and receive guidance on a diverse array of topics and programs, including health services, nutrition, caregiver support, legal assistance, transportation aid, consumer protections, elder abuse awareness, and technological engagement opportunities.

For those who have yet to experience the enriching atmosphere of similar resource fairs, we invite you to connect with us on social media. By doing so, you’ll stay informed about upcoming events and join us in our mission to strengthen community bonds and empower older adults with the resources they need to thrive.
