This Thanksgiving, Adopt a Family and Spread Holiday Joy

As we approach Thanksgiving, a time for reflection and gratitude, it’s the perfect moment to think about how we can give back to our community—especially those who are vulnerable and in need. This holiday season, the Aging & Disabilities Department is proud to help spread the word about the Department of Public Social Services’ (DPSS) Adopt-A-Family Program, an initiative that brings joy and support to families in need across Los Angeles County.

For many, the holidays are a time to celebrate with family and friends, but for some, the season can be difficult. By participating in the Adopt-A-Family Program, you can help make the holidays brighter for local families served by DPSS, particularly those who are disabled, or otherwise facing challenges.

How You Can Get Involved

Whether you’re an individual, part of a group, or representing a local business, you can play a meaningful role in this program. Sponsors are matched with a family and provided with their contact details along with a “wish list” of items the family needs or desires. These may include new clothing, gift certificates, toys for children, or other essentials.

This is a wonderful opportunity to team up with friends, coworkers, or fellow community members to bring happiness and hope to families in your area. By becoming a sponsor, you can directly impact the lives of those in need and embody the true spirit of giving during the holiday season.
