The Florence-Firestone Community Service Center, operated by the Los Angeles County Aging & Disabilities Department (AD), recently hosted a CalFresh Healthy Living event focused on nutrition education and more.
On Thursday, September 12, the center welcomed local older adults eager to learn about healthy living and improve their well-being.
Under the guidance of Center Director Sandra Gonzalez, AD outreach staff engaged participants in lively discussions about nutrition and wellness.
The event featured chair exercises designed to promote strength and flexibility, making them accessible for individuals with various mobility challenges. These exercises can be performed almost anywhere, enhancing convenience for attendees.
Several participants shared personal stories illustrating how small dietary changes, such as incorporating more fruits and vegetables into their meals, significantly boosted their energy levels and overall health. These anecdotes reinforced the key messages from CalFresh and inspired fellow community members to embrace healthier habits.
Attendees also visited the AD table to collect informational materials available in both English and Spanish, expressing their appreciation for the resources offered by the County of Los Angeles.
It was an informative and enriching day that underscored the incredible impact of community collaboration in promoting healthier lifestyles.
