Healthy Aging: Connect. Engage. Thrive in Community.

Building stronger lives through connection, purpose, and belonging. Because healthy aging begins with community.

Campaign Overview

Healthy aging is about more than staying physically active. It is about having opportunities to connect with others, discover new interests, stay engaged, find support, and remain an active part of your community.

This Senior Center Month, the L.A. County Aging & Disabilities Department (AD) is highlighting the many ways our 13 Community & Senior Centers help residents connect, engage, and thrive.

Our Centers are more than places to attend a class or activity. They are trusted community hubs where residents can access essential resources, participate in health and wellness programs, learn new skills, enjoy recreation and the arts, share a meal, build friendships, and find opportunities for purpose and enrichment.

Whether you come for a workout, a meal, a class, a resource, or simply to spend time with others, there is a place for you.

Because healthy aging begins with community.

Campaign Goals

This campaign aims to:

Showcase the full role of Community & Senior Centers as places for both prevention and enrichment.

Promote healthy aging as a whole-person experience that includes physical, mental, social, and emotional well-being.

Increase awareness of the programs, services, resources, and opportunities available at all 13 Centers.

Challenge outdated ideas about senior centers as places only for recreation or social activities.

Encourage residents to connect and participate, whether they are visiting a Center for the first time or looking for new ways to stay engaged.

Drive residents to find a Community & Senior Center near them.

Key Messages

Healthy aging happens in community.

Staying healthy is not only about exercise. Connection, purpose, learning, recreation, nutrition, and social engagement all contribute to overall well-being.

There is more to a Community & Senior Center than meets the eye.

Our Centers bring together essential services, health and wellness, education, recreation, social connection, and opportunities for personal enrichment in trusted community settings.

Fun can be good for you.

A fitness class can help you stay active. A creative class can keep your mind engaged. A shared meal can provide both nutrition and connection. A social activity can give you something to look forward to and people to share it with.

Come for one thing. Discover so much more.

A resident might first visit a Center for a meal, food assistance, utility assistance, a class, or an activity and discover additional resources, programs, friendships, and opportunities to get involved.

Everyone can find a way to participate.

Whether you want to move, learn, create, volunteer, socialize, access resources, or simply connect with others, Community & Senior Centers offer opportunities to stay active and engaged.
