East Rancho Dominguez Community Center and Park

The East Rancho Dominguez Community Center and Park was relocated in 2015 and is co-located with the Department of Parks and Recreation.  The center serves the East Rancho Dominguez and Compton unincorporated areas and other neighboring communities. It is a multipurpose facility designed to offer a wide range of services and social activities providing opportunities for daily learning, skills enhancement, community engagement, socialization, and healthy living for residents of all ages.

PROGRAM NAME DESCRIPTION
ARP Building a Better Connection for Older Adults (BBCOA) Program The program consists of an 8-week comprehensive training course. The training empowers participants to bridge the digital divide thus facilitating access to social interactions, healthcare, and other essential services that had become elusive due to lack of technology knowledge. Upon completion of training, each participant is provided an Apple iPad with two-year data plan.
Public Access Computers/Computer Lab Computers and printers available for the public to use on their own or in a class setting; tablets available at some centers too
PROGRAM NAME DESCRIPTION
Title V Centers serve as training sites for subsidized part-time work for unemployed older adults (age 55 or older). Center directors provide training and supervision.
Youth Training Program Provides at risk and disconnected youth with career exposure opportunities, resources and support to prepare them for future success centers are participating training sites

Billiards Room dedicated to play pool
Dances Events held at centers that include entertainment such as music to dance to and/or food, games, etc. This is an opportunity for community members to socialize with each other
Bingo/loteria Game for seniors to play; varying dates and times
Card/Board/Table Games Bid Whist, Canasta, Chess, Checkers, Puzzles amongst others for seniors
Field Trips Community field trips to educational or culturally enriching venues/sites

Holiday Giveaways/Seasonal Celebrations Centers plan celebrations and activities around holidays (.eg. Halloween, Thanksgiving, & Christmas, etc.) that include giveaways and activities.

Emergency Food Assistance The center coordinates, organizes and distributes food to provide food to low-income individuals, including the elderly and persons with disabilities. Maintains and prepares monthly reports to be submitted to the Food Bank.
Utility Assistance Center assists eligible individuals and families submit their utility bills (SoCal and SCE). Reviews, prepares and submits utility bill submissions in the system.
Information & Referral Provide information and refer community members to programs/services available, including APS referrals.
Forms Assistance Staff help complete simple forms such as Utility CARE Discount, Jury Duty, etc.
Meeting Room Reservations Centers have meeting rooms available for reservation by organizations seeking to provide a service to the community.
Translation Staff assist translate simple documents for the community
Form Assistance Staff help complete simple forms such as Utility CARE Discount, Jury Duty, etc.
Fitness Exercise equipment available at the center.
Farmer’s Market Voucher Seniors receive vouchers to use at farmer’s markets
Presentation/Workshops Variety of topics covered at the center; varied dates and times.
LA Found Bracelet Distribution Site For Alzeihmers and Dementia Participants – Centers is a distribution site for LA Found Bracelets.
Cooling Center If there is excessive high temperature, centers are activated as Cooling centers to provide relief from extreme heat conditions. The goal is to offer a safe, cool environment for those who might be at risk of heat-related illnesses.

Toy Loan Program DPSS Toy lending program that provides incentives to children in the community.

LA County Library Book Corners Library Dept. provides books to youth to borrow, read and enjoy.
