In addition to the exhibit booths, LACCOD Commissioner Reena De Asis will lead an interactive workshop during the expo titled “Frustration to Impact: The Advocacy Blueprint for Systems Change.”
The session will explore how community members and advocates can transform frustration with systemic barriers into organized, effective advocacy. Drawing on real-world examples, including the development of Los Angeles County’s Cerebral Palsy Motion and the Los Angeles Unified School District’s World Cerebral Palsy Day Resolution, Commissioner De Asis will discuss how collaborative advocacy can influence policy and expand access for people with disabilities.
Participants will learn practical strategies for identifying policy opportunities, building partnerships, and advancing initiatives that lead to meaningful systems change. The session will also introduce a step-by-step advocacy framework and resources participants can adapt within their own communities, organizations, or local governments.
