LACCOD Commissioner Peggie Reyna received the Breaking Silence Survivor Activist Award from the Los Angeles County Domestic Violence Council (DVC) at its 3rd Annual Domestic Violence Awareness Month Breakfast.
Reyna was recognized for her leadership as Project Director of Deaf, Disabled, and Elder Services at Peace Over Violence, a nonprofit that provides trauma-informed support to survivors of sexual and domestic violence.
The award also honors her decades of work advancing accessibility and equity for the disability community.
Peace Over Violence’s Deaf, Disabled & Elder (DDE) Services Program provides accessible services to survivors who are deaf, hard of hearing, disabled, or older adults. The program also supports individuals impacted by other crimes, including robbery, false imprisonment, vehicular assault, caregiver or hospital abuse, aggravated assault, and stalking.
