Asian Community Service Center Celebrates Grand Opening in Carson

On February 5, 2026, the Asian Community Service Center officially celebrated its grand opening in Carson, marking a new chapter for a longstanding community resource.

The center relocated to Carson from Gardena in November 2025 and reopened following a complete renovation. Now a fully modernized, multipurpose facility, it serves residents of Carson, Gardena, Wilmington, Lomita, Torrance, Hawthorne, Harbor City, and neighboring communities.

The space offers a wide range of services and activities for residents of all ages. From emergency food and utility assistance to fitness classes, line dancing, skill-building workshops, and opportunities for social connection, the center is designed to support healthy living and community engagement.

Aging & Disabilities Department Director Maral Karaccusian, whose department oversees the center along with 12 others across L.A. County, reminded attendees that the building itself is only part of what makes the center special.

“What makes this center meaningful isn’t the renovation, it’s what happens here every day,” she said. “Neighbors connecting. Families finding support. Older adults staying active and engaged.” She encouraged participants to continue sharing feedback, emphasizing the department’s commitment to staying responsive to community needs.

Supervisor Holly J. Mitchell, who represents the Second District, described the event as more than a ribbon cutting. “Today’s reopening is a meaningful investment in the wellbeing of residents here in Carson and across Los Angeles County,” she said.

Supervisor Mitchell also highlighted the importance of accessibility, noting that locating the center in a neighborhood shopping plaza brings services directly into the community rather than requiring residents to travel to a traditional government building.

The celebration included the presentation of a ceremonial scroll from the L.A. County Board of Supervisors. With its new home in Carson, the Asian Community Center continues its mission as a welcoming hub where residents can connect, learn, and thrive.
