The Aging & Disabilities Department (AD) was honored with four awards for its innovative programs at Los Angeles County’s Annual Productivity & Quality Awards (PQA), held October 15 at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion.
Three of the honors were Traditional Awards, recognizing commendable achievements in public service. Programs honored were:
Access to Technology (ATT) Program: Supported older adults and adults living with disabilities by providing digital tablets, technical assistance, and unlimited 5G internet access for two years. The program aimed to reduce isolation, increase social connections, and build confidence in using digital tools and online resources.
Adult Protective Services (APS) Center of Excellence (COE): Brings together a multidisciplinary team of experts whom APS social workers can consult to determine how best to assist victims of elder and dependent adult abuse.
Inclusive Pathways: Equity in Community Access: Ensures individuals with disabilities can participate fully in community life through tailored, integrated offerings such as drumming, cooking, life-skills, and emotional-wellness programs.
AD also received a Certificate of Recognition for its Creative Strategist program. Artist Carol Zou served as a Creative Strategist in a two-year residency, creating intergenerational, culturally relevant arts and culture programming in four senior and community centers.
The Department is proud of the work its staff do, alongside partners, to support older adults and people with disabilities across Los Angeles County.
