The State of California’s Department of Aging (CDA) recently spotlighted four meal providers from L.A. County’s Aging & Disabilities Department’s Area Agency on Aging (PSA 19) in their 2025 Older Californians Nutrition Program (OCNP) Success Stories. These organizations are making a significant impact by providing nutritious meals and support to older adults in the Los Angeles Region:
Josyln Senior Center: Volunteer Cecilia Greenwalt (pictured above) has dedicated 20 years to helping seniors at Josyln. During the challenges of COVID-19, Cecilia found the nutrition program especially vital, providing meals and one-on-one customer service. She continues to give back with gratitude to both the center staff and the Burbank community.
Don Tuttle Senior Center: A client shared that the nutrition program has been a lifesaver, especially for older adults on fixed incomes. The high-quality lunches provided five days a week have had a positive impact on their health and well-being.
Human Services Association (Alzheimer’s Day Care Resource Center): Sara, a client at the Alzheimer’s Day Care Resource Center (ADCRC), has seen great improvement in her health since joining the program. Her daughter, Maria, values the safe, caring environment and peace of mind knowing her mom is getting the right care.
ONEgeneration (Las Palmas): Gloria Villalpando found comfort and peace at ONEgeneration’s meal program following the loss of her father. The social interactions and caring environment have helped her through a difficult time. Additionally, Mario Diaz has formed close friendships through the program, enjoying activities like pickleball and engaging with friendly staff and volunteers.
These success stories highlight the positive impact of OCNP across the county, not just by providing nutritious meals, but also by fostering a sense of community and support for older adults.
