Action and Impact: A Recap of AD’s Wildfire Response Efforts

During the devastating January 2025 wildfires, the Aging & Disabilities Department (AD) swiftly mobilized to protect and support Los Angeles County’s older adults, people with disabilities, and caregivers. In partnership with County departments and community organizations, AD delivered a coordinated, equity-centered response rooted in compassion.

AD’s response included launching a centralized Wildfire Resources Hub, ensuring meal and service continuity after the loss of the Altadena Senior Center, and providing critical support at Disaster Recovery Centers and shelters. Staff and contractors conducted wellness calls, distributed over 4,800 personal protective equipment (PPE)—including N95 masks and gloves—and more than 2,800 personal hygiene items,  offered transportation, case management, and mental health resources to those affected.

The department’s Impact Infographic (pictured above) illustrates the reach and depth of these services—from meals served and calls made to on-the-ground partnerships and emergency relief efforts.

As recovery continues, AD remains committed to long-term support, advocacy, and rebuilding a more resilient future for our communities.
