Commissioner Diaz is originally from Michoacan, Mexico. He came to the United States in 1968, started a family, and became very involved with his community. He works with many community organizations across the Southeast area of Los Angeles to bring much needed resources to his community. Commissioner Salvador Diaz was appointed to LACCOA in 2023.
Commissioner Louis Dominguez attended Gonzaga University and CSUDH, BA and MSA; Army Infantry, Bronze Star and Purple Heart; Aide to Assemblyman Vincent Thomas and Mayors Tom Bradley and Richard Riordan. President & CEO of the Harbor Free Clinic; Retired computer instructor at the Harbor Community Adult School, served on Board of Directors of the San Pedro CofC; Elected Member of SP Neighborhood Council; Serving on the Mayor’s Sustained Supply Committee with the Port of LA; Raised funds to successfully light the Vincent Thomas Bridge. Commissioner Dominguez was appointed to LACCOA September 2019.
Commissioner Kimberly Lewis is a long-time homeless and senior advocate with over 30 years of experience in community service. Her journey began at age 15 as a Police Cadet, where she first witnessed the challenges the homeless and older adults faced. She went on to direct a 130-bed women’s shelter in South Los Angeles, lead AB 109 reentry programs, and served in leadership roles at the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority, overseeing more than 450 programs countywide. In 2018, Commissioner Lewis founded the I Did Something Good Today Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting socially isolated seniors through various programs. She is also the Vice Chair of the Long Beach Homeless Services Commission and Chairs the Long Beach Mayor’s Homeless Fund. Commissioner Lewis is also a longtime member of the FBI’s Faith-Based and Community Leaders Initiative, as she remains deeply committed to the belief that lasting change happens when “Community uplifts Community.”
Commissioner Cathy McClure is a professional fundraising Consultant. She worked for Woodcraft Rangers and the Discovery Cube Los Angeles as a Development Director, and for over 20 years, she raised needed funds for the United Way of Greater Los Angeles. She served on the board of the Rio Hondo Chapter of the American Red Cross and was the first woman chairperson and served as Commissioner in Social Services for the City of Whittier for 10 years. She is the proud mother of a son, daughter and four beautiful granddaughters. Commissioner McClure joined LACCOA in January 2018.
Commissioner Karen Reside is a native Californian, who has been an activist from the age of 12 when she negotiated with neighborhood bullies to leave other children alone. Working in youth development for 25 years, she retired and switched to older adult issues as she aged. She is currently the President of the Long Beach Gray Panthers, where they are preparing to celebrate 50 years of service in 2024.
