National Family Caregivers Month 2026
Caregiving Looks Like This.
Recognize the care. Find the support.

Caregiving often looks like everyday life. It can mean preparing meals, providing transportation, helping with medications, attending appointments, assisting with personal care or checking in on someone regularly. Many people do these things for a loved one without realizing they are caregivers.
This National Family Caregivers Month, the L.A. County Aging & Disabilities Department recognizes the millions of people who provide unpaid care to family members and others they love.
Through our “Caregiving Looks Like This” campaign, we are sharing real caregiver experiences, highlighting the importance of support and connecting residents with resources that can help make caregiving more manageable.
If you help someone with their daily needs, you may be a caregiver, and you do not have to navigate the journey alone.
Raise awareness: Help people recognize the everyday actions that make them caregivers.
Celebrate caregivers: Honor the dedication, experiences and contributions of unpaid family caregivers.
Connect caregivers with support: Increase awareness of the Family Caregiver Support Program (FCSP) and other trusted resources.
Promote caregiver well-being: Encourage caregivers to seek support, maintain social connections and make time for their own needs.
Build community awareness: Help partners and community organizations share information and connect caregivers with available services.
Caregiving looks different for everyone. It can involve everyday tasks, ongoing assistance or helping someone navigate more complex care needs.
You may be a caregiver without realizing it. Helping a family member, partner or friend regularly can be caregiving, even if you have never used that term for yourself.
Caregivers deserve support, too. Caring for someone else can affect your time, relationships and well-being. You do not have to do everything alone.
Support is available regardless of income. L.A. County’s Family Caregiver Support Program offers services to unpaid caregivers without an income requirement.
Every caregiver has a story. Sharing experiences can help others feel understood, find connection and discover resources.
It is never too early to seek help. Learning about available resources can help you prepare for caregiving challenges and find support along the way.
