– Los Angeles County, one of California’s original 27 counties, was established on Feb. 18, 1850. It is one of the nation’s largest counties with 4,084 square miles, and has the largest population of any county in the nation – nearly 10 million residents who account for approximately 27 percent of California’s population. As a subdivision of the state, the County is charged with providing numerous services that affect the lives of all residents, including law enforcement, tax collection, public health protection, public social services, elections and flood control.

– In-Home Supportive Services helps pay for services provided to low-income elderly, blind or disabled individuals, including children, so that they can remain safely in their own home.

– CalFresh improves the nutrition of people in low-income households by increasing their food-buying power, so they can purchase the amount of food their household needs.

– Health programs to cover the needs of everyone regardless of age, race, or immigration status.

– The Department of Consumer and Business Affairs (DCBA) serves consumers, businesses, and communities through education, advocacy, and complaint resolution. Their mission is to create a fair and vibrant marketplace for consumers and businesses.

– Adult / Family: Medicine primary care for adults.

– Geriatric Medicine: primary care for older adults.

– Pediatric Services

– Provides inpatient acute care services in four hospitals, and outpatient services at two outpatient centers (OC), six comprehensive health centers (CHC), 11 health centers, and over 100 Community Partners’ clinics. Provides no cost and low cost health care services.

– LA County Department of Mental Health

– 24/7 Helpline: 800-854-7771

– Mental health services to children and young adults.

– Mental health and supportive services for clients, between the ages of 26 and 59, who live with serious mental illness.

– Screening and assessment, case management services, individual and family treatment and crisis intervention services.

– The Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health programs include child and adult outpatient clinics and a myriad of specialized programs which include outreach and engagement, assessment, psychoeducation, crisis intervention, individual and/or group psychotherapy, peer support, medication evaluation and management, individual and/or group rehabilitation and case management.
