The Los Angeles County Department of Consumer and Business Affairs (DCBA) has opened the application portal for the L.A. County Emergency Rent Relief Program, providing financial assistance to landlords affected by fires, storms, or other emergency-related hardships in 2025.
Eligible landlords can apply for up to six months of rent relief, with grants covering a maximum of $15,000 per rental unit in most cases. Tenants are not eligible to apply directly, but they can refer their landlords through a form on the portal.
Applications will be prioritized for:
• Small landlords with four or fewer units
• Properties in high-need areas, as identified by the L.A. County Equity Explorer Tool
• Households with incomes at or below 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI)
The deadline to apply is Friday, January 23, 2026, at 4:59 PM PST.
For eligibility requirements, multilingual resources, and to submit an application, visit LACountyRentRelief.com.
Free technical assistance is available by calling (877) 849-0770, Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM PST, with limited weekend support by appointment.
The program, directed by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors (BOS) and administered by DCBA in partnership with The Center by Lendistry (thecenterbylendistry.org), will distribute more than $23 million in relief to eligible landlords and displaced homeowners impacted by 2025 emergencies.
