The California State Council on Developmental Disabilities (SCDD) has launched Medicaid Watch, a new portal designed to track how federal policy changes are affecting people with developmental disabilities and their families in California. This is an opportunity for older adults, adults with disabilities, and caregivers to share their experiences and make their voices heard.
Medicaid Watch collects information about changes that may impact Medicaid-funded services, including lost services, delays, or loss of caregivers. “Your voice helps us hold systems accountable,” the Council explains. “Medicaid Watch will help us push for solutions for all and connect people who are facing similar challenges.”
The information collected through Medicaid Watch helps guide SCDD’s advocacy efforts and may be used in reports, testimonies, or public awareness campaigns. By sharing your experience, you are giving the Council permission to share it with legislators and other decision-makers. Providing your name and contact email is optional.
When using the portal, you can identify yourself as a self-advocate, family advocate, professional, or other, and describe whether you or a family member have experienced any changes to Medicaid-funded services in the past one to three months. There is space to elaborate on your situation so that your voice is fully heard.
While Medicaid Watch will not solve individual problems, it is a powerful tool to track trends, highlight systemic issues, and push for solutions that benefit everyone who relies on Medicaid services.
The California State Council on Developmental Disabilities is an independent state agency committed to ensuring that people with developmental disabilities and their families receive the services and supports they need.
