The Altadena Senior Center (Satellite) continues to serve communities from Altadena, La Crescenta, and East Pasadena unincorporated areas and neighboring communities. The center is a community focal point where seniors of all socio-economic levels, gather to enjoy the center’s wide range of services and social activities providing opportunities for daily learning, skills enhancement, community engagement, socialization, and healthy living for older adult residents.

Presentation/Workshops Provides coordination for various departments and presenters.
Public Access Computers/Computer Lab Computers and printers available for the public to use on their own or in a class setting; tablets available at some centers too.
Diabetes Awareness & Blood Pressure & Glucose Screening Class that teaches individuals how to manage their diabetes.

Senior Foodbank LA Regional Food Bank provides once a month food commodities to income/age eligible seniors.

Youth Training Program Provides at risk and disconnected youth with career exposure opportunities, resources and support to prepare them for future success centers are participating training sites.

Salsa Dance Class participants learn new Salsa dances while exercising; varied dates and times.
Creative Card Making Techniques Class participants are taught to create cards and share their techniques with each other; varied dates and times.
Arts & Crafts Group that focuses on arts and crafts projects; varied dates and times.
Sewing & Quilting Class that teaches sewing to community members; varying dates and times.
Line Dancing All exercise is taught to fun music in which a partner is not needed; varied levels, dates and times.
Strength Training A class that focuses on strengthening exercise with or without the use of equipment; varied dates and times.
Tai-Chi Tai-Chi class teaches different poses/movements to the community.
Yoga Yoga class teaches different yoga poses/movements to the community; varied intensities, dates and times.
Billiards Room dedicated to play pool.
Card/Board/Table Games Bid Whist, Canasta, Chess, Checkers, Puzzles amongst others for seniors.
Book Club Members gather at the center to read a chosen book and to discuss it.
Movie day Showing movies providing with popcorn & soda drinks.
Urban Ballroom Dancing Class teaches synchronized Urban Ballroom Dancing skills which include basic steps, turns, learning with and a variety of other dance motions while progressing through the course.

Holiday Giveaways/Seasonal Celebrations Centers plan celebrations and activities around holidays (.eg. Halloween, Thanksgiving, & Christmas, etc.) that include giveaways and activities.

Forms Assistance Staff help complete simple forms such as Utility CARE Discount, Jury Duty, etc.
Translation Staff assist translate simple documents for the community.
Meeting Room Reservations Centers have meeting rooms available for reservation by organizations seeking to provide a service to the community.
Farmer’s Market Voucher Seniors receive vouchers to use at farmer’s markets.
LA Found Bracelet Distribution Site For Alzeihmers and Dementia Participants – Centers is a distribution site for LA Found Bracelets.
Form Assistance Staff help complete simple forms such as Utility CARE Discount, Jury Duty, etc.

Free Income Tax Preparation Community organizations provide free income tax preparation to income eligible individuals and families.
Senior Video Exercise Seniors exercise to a video at the center.
Chair Exercises A variety of classes that utilize a chair to practice balance and stability, yoga, and aerobics. Classes take place on different dates and times.
Library A quiet space for community members to access books to borrow or read at the centers.
Fitness Centers Exercise equipment available at the center such as treadmill, elliptical, etc.
Cooling Center If there is excessive high temperature, centers are activated as Cooling centers to provide relief from extreme heat conditions. The goal is to offer a safe, cool environment for those who might be at risk of heat-related illnesses.
